Hi, I’m Raquel! My family is from Merufe (in Minho, Portugal), and Agueda Macinhata do Vouga (in Aveiro, Portugal) and am a full-time student in a dual program at NJIT and Rutgers. I’m passionate about learning and always looking to expand my knowledge. I plan to continue my education in graduate school.

Outside of my studies, I enjoy reading, spending time with friends, and exploring new interests. A fun fact about me—I have a pet bunny named Lola, who keeps life interesting! I love meeting new people and experiencing new things, whether it’s through academics, hobbies, or everyday life.

Dr. Gabriel Barbosa PT, DPT decided he wanted to enter the physical therapy world when he sustained his first injury in college while exercising, which limited his ability to exercise and play sports. Upon being a patient for the first time, his passion for the human body and movement grew even further, seeking to learn as much as he can about how consistent and proper movement can naturally restore function and enhance quality of life.

Gabe received his Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science and Sport Studies at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, where he worked in the university’s recreation centers on campus. As his passion for exercise and physical health grew, he realized that pursuing a doctorate in physical therapy would drive him learn as much about the human body as he wanted, knowing that they are the most knowledgeable about the body’s biomechanics as acknowledged movement experts. During his time at Rutgers, he completed internships at several local physical therapy clinics prior to getting accepted into physical therapy school at Seton Hall University, where he received his doctorate in physical therapy.

Outside of the clinic, Gabe enjoys working soccer games with Cedar Stars Academy as the on-site PT, gaining experience with athletes spanning up to the Semi-professional level. In his spare time, he likes to stay active through weight training and going on walks, and is interested in taking up running to improve cardiovascular fitness.

As a Christian, he values compassion, kindness, patience, servanthood, and joy. Gabe is a dedicated practitioner, whose biggest goal is to exercise servant leadership and compassionate care to every patient he meets. He aspires to be a sports physical therapist, specializing in the rehabilitation and treatment of athletes of all sports, with an emphasis on those who participate in his favorite sport: soccer.

Gabe is dedicated to growing as a physical therapist, and is eager to learn as much as possible to provide the best possible care to as many people as he could!
